Pulsar 400CS and 400SS soon to storm the Indian Markets

– Shaneel Karia

After teaming up with the famous KTM brand, Bajaj seems to be achieving great heights, first with the release of the Pulsar 200NS and now with two new 400cc models, the 400ss and the 400cs. The SS stands for Super Sport while the CS for Cruiser sport. The collaboration has led to newer innovations in terms of design as well as technology. The 4 valve triple spark plug in the 200NS and now expecting something out of the box from Bajaj.

After having launched the KTM duke 390 is a beauty, but among the new pulsars, one reminds me of the fz1000 and the other has hints of Kawasaki Ninja. The engines are rumored to be 375cc ones and not 400, the one’s used in the KTM 390. The auto expo is a great platform to showcase the upcoming vehicles and concepts, and Bajaj has utilized this opportunity in the auto expo 2014.

The 400 CS is physical features similar to the 200NS, the speedometer too has been shifted from the center of the handlebars, and on to the fuel tank. The Pulsar 400CS has unique headlamp with 3 different segments. The CAT eye’s on this version is similar to the 200NS. It is a mono suspension one, and is expected to have ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) mounted on to it for better stoppage, without the risk of a lock up of the discs. 6 gears mated with the liquid cooled engines, the last gear is mainly added for improving the mileage. This is expected to be a single cylinder engine with fuel injection technology incorporated.

Coming on to the 400 SS, it has a fairing installed on to it, and so far it may be the best bike released in terms of visual perception. It has a fully sporty look and has a speedometer just like the 200NS the only difference noticed is the color change from orange to blue. This too is a single cylinder liquid cooled engine that has a six gear transmission mounted on to it. It has Bybre brakes mounted with ABS technology and is expected to have a radiator fan which may come in to picture when under intense heating. The only thing that might be catastrophic in this sports bike is the brake lights, but well could may turn out the positive way too, who knows?, it’s just time that will answer.

The only thing that Bajaj has to consider is creating these beasts is to release these bikes in a perfect price bracket. The Bajaj Pulsar 400CS price may ponder around the 2 lakhs mark, while the Bajaj Pulsar 400SS Price may vary between 3.5 to 4 lakh Indian Rupees.
