With people going all crazy on selfies, HTC thought of introducing a smartphone in this competitive market, with the sole purpose of catering to the needs of the selfie freaks. The HTC Desire EYE, is what I am talking about, Let’s find out what’s under the hood of this device…
- Bright Display
- Water Proof with ports open
- Eye catching design
- Low light imaging
- Difficult one hand use
With a unibody design, the Desire EYE focuses on using vibrant dual toned colors separating the back from the sides. The HTC One M8 which is also an unibody designed smartphone was finished with metal on the rear, but this one is made from a completely different material, polycarbonate. That’s right, the very same material used in the lens of quiet a few spectacle owners, has now been blended in.
The blend has given quiet a premium feel though this maybe a finger magnet, but don’t worry this device is grippier. Coming on to the physical buttons which include the power button, volume rockers and the dedicated camera button, are found to be irritating as they have been pushed in right on to the chassis making it difficult to figure out whether you have actually pressed it. Hope this is rectified when it releases in the India market.
Colorful, bright and clear 5.2 Inch Display. Even though it has an 1980 x 1080 pixel resolution the HTC Smartphone lacks the capability to outperform the current devices in terms of vividness and sharpness. Brightness is superior to the One M8, this giving greater readability under sunlight, but the major drawback is that the colors do tend to saturate at certain angles.
Snapdragon 801 Processor clocking 2.3GHz coupled with 2 Gigs of RAM. Android 4.4.2 Kitkat available at the moment but soon hope to see lollipop version installed into these devices. 16 GB of internal storage expandable with the help of a memory card. 2400 mAh battery is a juice guzzler when it comes to gaming, but on moderate usage you can expect this device to last for up to a day.
Being termed as the selfie smartphone, the camera’s are bound to be equipped with high resolution camera lenses. 13 MP Camera for the rear as well as the front along with dual LED Flash equipped at the rear as well as the front. Low light imaging is a let down, but under right lighting conditions you will get decent image qualities.
HTC Desire EYE incorporates Boomsound speakers which definitely have more bass producing capabilities. Speakers are loud and clear and even can compete with the high end devices available in the market. Another plus point is that the HTC Smartphone is water resistant for 30 mins to a depth of 1 meter with all ports open, this is what may be expected from upcoming smartphones from various flagships.
One Plus One, Lenovo Vibe X2 and the Xiaomi Mi4 are cheaper devices with similar performance, but with no clue at which price bracket the smartphone is going to be launched, the Desire EYE is still a standing contender. The Indian market will soon get these as HTC’s official website has categorized this smartphone under coming soon devices. But the wait is for the Price Tag (Hope it’s under 35000 INR).
