Lenovo has been trying really hard to strive in the smartphone segment. With their success with the initial few devices later on turned down to failures in the form of the X2 and few other mid segment devices. They have tried to hit back with two of their latest releases, Lenovo Vibe P1 and Lenovo Vibe P1m.
What’s Maniac ??
- Fingerprint sensor
- PDAF sensor
What’s Not ??
Vibe P1 Design
Aluminum Body makes this device light to grasp, weighing 189 gms, on the front side you have 2 capacitive buttons and one physical button which redirects you to home. The rear has a curve to it which may help you get a nice grip, at the center the rear camera sensor and right below that the LED flash. Lefts side houses to volume rockers and the unlock button. 2 Speakers at the bottom on either side of the micro USB port.
Vibe P1 Display
5.5 inch Full HD display which comes with the scratch resistant layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. With great viewing angles, the device has also been stocked with Qualcomm’s Assertive Display which maximizes visibility under sunlight. The 10 point multi touch device is equipped with an IPS display and has a pixel density of 401 ppi.
Vibe P1 Hardware
1.5GHz of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 processor buttered with 2GB of RAM seems to keep the device running smoothly, but competitors are providing 3GB of RAM in the same price range. 32 Gigs of internal storage sounds more than sufficient but if you still crave for more you can equip this device with an additional 128 Gigs through a microSD card.
Dual Sim 4G connectivity, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and most importantly a fingerprint reader are just few additional features which are clinged onto the device. Did I forget something ?? Oh!! Yes the battery has a whopping capacity of 4900mAh and in the box you provided with an 24 Watt charger which charges this beasts juice in just 60 minutes, well that’s what Lenovo claims at least.
Vibe P1 Camera
Dual Color LED flash helps capturing high quality images either in broad daylight or even at night. 13 MP rear facing sensor and 5 MP front facing sensor sounds to be more than sufficient for an average avid user. PDAF technology which is also and additional add on to the camera helps at focusing much faster.
Micromax Yu Yureka provides the same 615 processor under 10k which I find pretty unusual and also competitors under the same price bracket are providing 3 Gigs of RAM. Other than than the device seems to be a deal breaker. They have compromised their downs with the fingerprint sensor, which is pretty handy. OTG cable connected makes this device a portable power bank. And to soothen the lower spec hardware they have topped this device on Android v5 (Lollipop).
Competitors are the Xiaomi Mi4, Huawei Honor 6, and the Moto X play. Mi4 and Honor 6 are pretty old devices as they have been in the market for almost a year now. The Moto X play is the newly launched device by Motorola which has been introduced to hit the mid segment market.
