Smartphone Review : Samsung Galaxy S5

  • Design is good
  • Waterproof device
  • Additional features
  • Kitkat preloaded

  • UI is a disappointment
  • No Major updates

Samsung Galaxy S5 the most awaited smartphone, was finally showcased at the MWC 2014. Samsung has been pretty quick with it’s design side and has been able to launch smartphones every month now.

The Korean company has tried to outwit competitors with their solid design works, but the current problem with Samsung smartphones are that they all almost look the same. The change in the S5 is the back cover, rest is pretty much extracted from older phones.

AMOLED display has been incorporated in the higher end smartphones by Samsung, right from the launch of the Galaxy S2. This device sports a Super AMOLED Full HD display, which is much brighter. The only downgrade is the 5.1 inch display has been only able to deliver a pixel density of 415ppi which is downgraded by 26 ppi compared to the Note 3.

Galaxy S5

A extremely powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad core processor which clocks 2.5GHz along with 2GB of RAM. A heart rate sensor too is mounted right besides the LED flash. 2,800mAh battery may seem to be little low but with the updated Android version which is the 4.0 Kitkat, the Galaxy S5 may be able to have a moderate life.

Capture an image in just 0.3 seconds, but after capturing one, you do get to choose where you would like to focus, thus getting the other sections of the image an out focused touch. Well all this will be captured with a 16 MP sensor.

Technology and User Interface

For some the upgrade of the TouchWiz UI may be a little difficult to adapt to. But on the brighter side, the finger print scanner does wonders, but you have to manually power the device first to get it to the scanner. This device has been actually built to monitor one’s health. So this is a device that all the fitness freaks can definitely grab on to.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 may be available in the market by April 2014 in two variants, 16GB and 32GB. But if you were expecting some revolutionary change, like what the Galaxy S2 had shown, you may be put down. This device has strong competitors like the HTC Desire 816 and Sony’s Xperia Z2. The wait is for, what price tag Samsung will punch on to it after full scale manufacturing. The HTC One M8 though seems to sweep the market at the moment.
