Xiaomi Mi3, the smartphone that shook the smartphone world with classy specs and falls in the mid range pricing, competes with the high end smartphones in terms of tech specs. But does this smartphone live up to it’s hype ??
- Sharp and Bright display
- But Obvious, Value for Money
- Unique design
- Good Battery Life
- Decent Build
- The MIUI interface may not suit all
Xiaomi has introduced a completely new design with the Mi3, It has a rectangular finish. It has an Aluminium-Magnesium alloy frame but once you get your hands on it you may find it more of plastic feel. But what more can you expect from an mid range budget smartphone.
The smartphone has been made nice and simple with the uni-body plastic casing. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 has been used to protect the huge screen but reaching all corners of the screen with a single finger may be difficult.
The heart of the Xiaomi is the 2.3GHz quad-core Krait 400 CPU Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset coupled with the Adreno 330 GPU. 3050mAh battery seems to support the 2GB of RAM for quiet sometime, giving it a superior battery life. The device supports NFC as well.
5 inch display protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 manages to drain out a pixel density of 441ppi (pixels per inch) which seems to compete with the high end phones like Samsung Galaxy S5 and Nexus 5.
The resolution too is a full HD one, which means crisp, clear and vivid display. Brightness is not that great but it it is viewable under sunlight.
13 Megapixel rear camera gives good quality images. You will be able to retain average looking images with the help of this camera. To help out during low lights, the dual LED has been jolted on to this device.
The only fault is the shutter speed which may feel a little sloppy at times. To create something unique in terms of design Xiaomi has added a square box around the circular camera giving it an uplift somewhat in the design.
Getting used to the MIUI interface may be an issue initially but once you get the hang of it you will definitely fall in love with it. With specs almost similar to the Nexus 5 Xiaomi has definitely done wonders with the Mi3. This is definitely worth buying because you cannot expect more from a mid range smartphone.
Viable competitors to this smartphone considering the budget are Moto G and the HTC Desire 616. The speakers maybe a let down but undoubtedly the Xiaomi will win your heart considering the specs, design and build quality provided at an incredibly good rate. You may get this device for 13,999 Indian Rupees and will be available only on flipkart at the moment.
