What’s Good ??
- Definitely Value for money
- Amazing hardware specs
- Good IPS Display
What’s Not ??
- Runs on slightly older version of Android (4.3)
- May feel a bit plastic
Xiaomi has not attracted the smartphone world by designing cute or sharp looking smartphones, what they have focused on, is getting high end specs smartphone well within a poachable budget. With a simple yet attractive design, the Redmi 1s does have a decent feel to it.
A well managed Xiaomi Smartphone encasing the whole device in 9.9 mm. 3 capacitive buttons which are back-lit in red just uplifts the design of the smartphone
Well you may be amazed, the Xiaomi Redmi 1s has specs almost equivalent to the Nexus 4 . You have a 1.6Ghz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 preocessor with the Cortex A7 core. The Adreno 305 GPU accelerates the graphical interface.
1 GB of RAM with 8 GB of internal flash memory which can be coupled with an external card of upto 64GB. The battery is a decent one packed with 2,000 mAh, and yes this is a removable one. Not to forget that this is a dual sim phone.
4.7 inch AGC Dragontrail scratch resistant glass protects the HD display. With a resolution of 1280 by 720 this device has a pixel density of 312ppi which is incredibly awesome considering the price at which it is being sold.
An 8MP zero shutter lag lens produces a decent range of colors. You would definitely not curse the images as such. You also have a 1.6MP Front facing camera for selfies. A single LED on the rear helps the rear camera while capturing low light images.
The auto focus lens has an aperture of f/2.2 and an wide angle capture capabilities at 28mm. 1080p videos can be recorded but the plus point is the burst mode where it can capture up to 8 images per second.
With the MIUI interface running the Android 4.3 version may be a little outdated but may soon find updates for the same. We have seen the interface being loved by many but disliked by few. With hardly few days to go for its official release, flipkart has seen already 1,00,000 registered buyers. But the first lot is only of 40,000 devices.
The Redmi 1s will definitely crawl in the heads of every tech geek wanting to test the super budget smartphone. With Xiaomi coming in, the Moto craze will soon fade by, with an uncertainty of a new company encroaching with smartphones in super budget.
You can compare this device to the Moto E as well as the Moto G as a matter of fact. But build quality will definitely ponder around your mind. With release on 2nd September at 2am, this device will be launched at 5,999 Indian Rupees.
