Unravelling it’s mere strength, delivering high quality smartphones in tight budgets, Xiaomi this time shouts out aloud with the Xiaomi Redmi 2. What’s more?? Xiaomi seems to have made this device future proof in terms for connectivity, the Xiaomi Smartphone has been fitted with two 4G sim slots.
- 64 Bit 1.2GHz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor
- Dual Sim 4G capabilities with dual standby
- 312 ppi IPS display
- MIUI may take some time to adapt to.
The same 4.7 inch display has been incorporated into the Redmi 2 as it had used previously on the Redmi 1s. The difference is a much lighter smartphone weighing a mere 133gms and slimmer pressing itself to a thickness of 9.3mm. The curvey edges along with a evenly finished rear panel gives a good feel to it. The matte finished rear panel is grease and fingerprint resistant.
High performance tech chips jam packed into this budgeted Redmi 2. A 64 bit Cortex A53 designed processor, the 1.2Ghz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 when coupled with an Adreno 306GPU, delivers “desktop grade graphics” as promised by Xiaomi. The device has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of Internal Storage out of which only 5.75GB is available to the end user.
With 4G Dual Sim Dual Standby Capabilities, this Xiaomi Smartphone seems to be a deal breaker. The 2,200 mAh battery may not be sound enough for this but we hope this device may at least last a day. The Android 4.4 based MIUI version may get some credit for this. Quick Charge 1.0 claims to charge this device up to 40% times more quicker.
4.7 inch display resoluting to 1280 x 720 pixels is similar to the Redmi 1s. It is basically an IPS panel which has a viewing angle of up to 178 degrees and delivers and outstanding pixel density of 312ppi, which may be slightly better than the 294ppi which was provided in the 1s.
8MP BSI based camera sensor along with an infrared sensor protection helps improvising capturing capability in sunlight. A single LED flash is also provided just in case the lighting conditions are a bit to dim. The front facing camera is a 2MP one which more than sufficient for the selfies.
Overall considering the price bracket at which this device has been launched, this smartphone is definitely worth the buy if you on a real tight budget. The device will be exclusively launched on flipkart on 24th March at a price of 6,999 Indian Rupees.
In a nut shell 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, 64 bit 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, 8MP rear facing camera, 2MP front facing camera, 2,200mAh Li-ion polymer battery, Android 4.4 masked with MIUI interface. The competition standing as of today may be the Moto E (2nd Gen), Micromax Yu Yureka and the not so distant lenovo k3 which may be launched in India, all have similar specs on paper. But all that matters is the reliability and after sales service.
